Since a law signed December 20, 2019, federal law sets the minimum age to buy tobacco and vape products at 21 in every state. For in-person sales, the FDA also requires a photo ID check for anyone under 30. Online stores apply the 21+ rule to every order, and some states and cities add stricter rules of their own.
